Dr. Jay G. Shastri completed his internal medicine training at Robert-Wood Johnson University Hospital (Rutgers) in New Brunswick, NJ, and graduated from his nephrology fellowship at the same institution. During his training, he was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honors Society for his dedication towards teaching medical students.

He has continued his passion for medical education over the years while in practice, by devoting time educating young doctors in their training. Dr. Shastri is also involved in a variety of hospital committees including the Medical Excellence Committee and the Clinical Competence Committee for the local Internal Medicine Residency Program. He is an active member of the American Society of Nephrology and Renal Physician Association.

But first and foremost, Dr. Shastri is dedicated to patient care, striving to improve the outcomes of his patients. He has sought to address systemic health care disparities that some of his patients must endure, particularly those that undergo dialysis. He has been in active nephrology practice since 2007 and is dually board certified in both internal medicine and nephrology.
